'Tis the Season.....

Christmas? Nah. Its October. And October - besides playing host to the World Series, of course - means Halloween. And the State of Grace Tattoo Convention. And my favorite: Oktoberfest.

For the last number of years, Oktoberfest in Campbell has been a family tradition. Good friends, great food, and lots and lots of beer. Who could ask for anything more? The bedroom community of Campbell shuts down their main street from end to end and hosts the event, with arts and crafts from all over setting up shop, local shops throwing open their doors to sidewalk traffic, artists (such as our friend Mike Kjolhaug) exhibiting their talent. We typically gather up the troops: our good friends Josh and Lindsay (newlyweds!) and Scott & Renee and make a day out of it. I'm serious: We get there around 10am and start drinking IMMEDIATELY. Its the best. This year we will have an additional tag-along in the person of the incredibly charming and ultimately cute Devlin Patrick!

October is actually going to be a very packed month. I am already "off" from work; I started working from home last Wednesday and will be doing so for the remainder of this week, with the final three weeks of the month off as vacation and Paid Family Leave. My old friend Cindi is in Cali visiting family and Amy and I will be heading up to The City to catch up with her and have some Irish Coffees at the famous Buena Vista (where Irish coffees were invented, thank you very much....). The weekend of the 24th/25th/26th is when the aforementioned
State of Grace Tattoo Convention will be held downtown. Hopefully, my fave artist Nervio will be present and we can work on completing my right arm sleeve work and possibly discuss my left arm plans (although I am toying with having a different artist take that task on as I am more and more considering myself a collector, one who desires different artists to display their work on my exposed flesh.....).

Add to this that I already have two tickets for myself and another of my oldest friends, Cat, to rock with The Damned when they hit San Jose for one of only a handful of West Coast dates. I have always appreciated The Damned as among the quintessential punk bands of their time and am stoked to be able to see them. Cat has been having a few health issues as of late and I am really hoping she is recovered enough by the time of the show because I know she will spend the night slamming her head repeatedly against a nearby wall if she can't make it......

Damn. All this and all the fun of relatively sleepless nights with Devlin. Throw in some Top Ramen and I could almost think I was back in high school or college again........

I love Oktoberfest......
